201: Tarot

Tarot, written by Gwen

The tarot is a form of divination that can be traced up to 600 years ago. However the origins of the Tarot are unknown. The tarot is a combination of 78 cards, divided into two sections. The Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana. The Minor Arcana is further divided into four sections. In the Major Arcana typically exists cards representing the main aspects of life, such as birth, death and rebirth. In many decks, the main character is the Fool, and the entire deck represents his journey. The cards of the Major Arcana are as follows:

The Fool, usually representing youth, foolishness, risks and the initiation into life.

The Magician, can represent the inner and otter manifestations of life. Conscious and Subconscious, as well as mental, spiritual and mental. Above all, it represents the Potential for all things, for awareness, wisdom and control of magical and material things.

The High Priestess, usually represents intuition, the psyche, mystery, duality(balancing power between initiative and resistance, feminine and masculine), and hidden forces at work.

The Empress, represents the mother force in all things, as well as fertility, marriage, pregnancy, and the coming of children.

The Emperor, usually represents the commanding authority masculine figure. He represents kingship, leadership, the head of a family, control of the masses, mental activity and the domination of intelligence over others. Sometimes represents a tyrannical or oppressive figure.

The Hierophant is the counterpart of the High Priestess. He is the masculine 'priest' and represents the conscious, rather than the subconscious. He is your 'conscious' and the one who helps you in your religious/spiritual life. He also represents conformity, a doctrine of beliefs, bondage to the conventions of society, and all outer forms of religion.

The Lovers represent a need for a choice between diverse allurements; the struggle between what is sacred and profane love. It also represents Attraction, beauty, harmony of the inner and outer life. The power of choice means responsibility. Also it indicates that "No choice is more disastrous than a bad decision".

The Chariot represents to domination over evil and the strength of good. As well as conquest, success, triumph over material and physical problems. Many times it tells of a conquest, journey, or travel. It implies that once embracing both light and darkness, one can master their goals in life, and move forward rather than just one path or the other.

Strength represents the Ego, strength, power without the need for material possessions, triumph, and the higher nature over carnal desires.

The Hermit represents the lone figure in society, silent council, wisdom, prudence, a possible journey, and over all, a loner or person choosing to stay away from society, to better learn about themselves, or a new wisdom or system of magic.

The Wheel of Fortune represents the wheel of life, Fortuna's Wheel if you will, all the good and ill, birth, life and death. It implies you are about to embark a turn of the wheel, good or bad fortune soon to befall you.

Justice represents the Scales of the balance, karma, and Life. It can represent a balanced personality, justice itself, legal problems, etc. The time has come to harvest your fruits, whether they are ripe or sour.

The Hanged Man represents sacrifice overall, as well as a surrender to a higher Being causing a reversal in one's way of life. In spiritual matters, wisdom, prophetic power, and self- sacrifice are required when this card appears. You may review something good or negative in your life, and come to the ultimate conclusion, or understand this is an indication, that it needs to retire, and you need to move on to new things to acquire what you need and want.

Death does not typically mean a physical death, but at some times can indicate a warning of some kind of mortal danger. However, in most cases this card represents a new chapter in your life, transformation, and great change. This change may be in the form of consciousness, or something deeper. It can also mean birth and renewal.

Temperance represents harmony and balanced heart, the flow of emotion, adaption, coordination, moderation, and individuality.

The Devil represents chains of a person or society. It represents human nature and the need to break free from some bad habit or some constrictions that a person or society has placed on you. It can also represent guilt, and sometimes the need to look at the guilt deeper and realize why you are feeling that guilt, analyze whether it is logical or not. Can also represent domination of matter over spirit, illness, bondage to material, violence, revolution, force, and sometimes dark magick.

The Tower is a great representation of Chaos and disorder in your life. The lightening has struck your tower and everything comes crashing down. This is not mere coincidence. This happens due to unstable foundations rooted in your life. It represents the overthrow of existing modes of life, conflict, unforeseen catastrophe, old notions upset, disruption that may bring enlightenment in its wake, and selfish ambition about to fall.

The Star represents the inner child, hope courage, inspiration. Some see it as Selflessness and spiritual love.

The Moon represents many things: unconscious thought, lunacy, hidden energies, imagination, dreams, intuition, depression, unforeseen perils, deception or illusion. Our emotions, our psyche changes like the tides, changes like the phases of the moon.

The Sun represents great optimism, attainment and material happiness. Happy unions and reunions. Achievements in arts, science, agriculture. Pleasure in the simplicity of life. "Simplicity is the natural result of complex thought".

Judgment represents an Awakening change of position, renewal, a change in personal consciousness and awareness of past, present and future. This is represented by the judgment card because it sometimes causes you to become aware of what you have done in your life. It is a new understanding of the self.

The World (or Universe) is the last and final card, yet also represents a new beginning or new era. Represents completion of some task, reward, assured success, travel, movement, and the arrival at the state of cosmic consciousness. While Death was the next chapter in life, the World is the next book.

Finally, the Minor Arcana, as I explained, is divided into 4 sections. You may notice the similarity between this and the modern card deck. It is believed the modern cards were derived from the Tarot. Divided into Cups, Swords, Wands and Pentacles. Cups=Hearts, Swords=Spades, Wands=Clubs, Diamonds=Pentacles.

Wands indicate animation and enterprise, energy and growth. The wands shown in the cards are always in leaf, suggestion the constant renewal of life. They are all associated with the world of ideas and creativity.

Cups generally indicate emotions, love and happiness. The sign of the cup, which appears in all the cards of the suit, refers to water- a symbol of love, instruction, pleasure, and knowledge. These cards usually express the good life, fertility, beauty and the emotions rather than the intellect.

Swords generally represent the quest, aggression, ambition, boldness, war. force and courage. They represent the world of activities, both constructive and destructive.

Pentacles (Or sometimes Coins or Discs)symbolize matters concerning materialism, money, finances, stability, employment, trade, and industry.

When used, the cards can mean different things, depending upon their position, their surrounding cards, and whether or not they are reversed or not. I must point out that each deck is designed very differently, and each usually have themes. Sometimes these themes are based on a magical tradition, a religion, a form of spirituality, a mythology, and even sometimes on modern entertainment, such as a book or a roleplaying game. Each of these decks can be valuable, if they keep some semblance of the traditional symbols. Some decks are created for art, and have very little symbolism besides number and names. But you can adapt almost any story, any mythology, any idea, to create your own theme. Most modern decks are strictly or loosely based on symbolism of the Golden Dawn, which much emphasis on the Kaballah. The most popular deck of the past century is believed to be the Rider-Waite deck, which was created by a member of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.

The Tarot can tell of the past, present, and future, as well as explain different routes of progression, and interpret what the subconscious mind is saying. But overall, you must remember they will tell you where you are headed based on the path you are currently on. Nothing is written in stone, or on paper. You make your future. The Tarot is a guide, nothing more.

201: Forms of Divination

The practice of 'seeing into the future' and determining human fate and fortune is an ancient one. It involves diverse traditions from many varied cultures - and these practices have undergone many rebirths and permutations over the years. The most common forms of divination seemed to have stood the tests of time, ridicule, modern sciences and personal preference!

The most common practices are listed below - yet with any method of divination, it seems best to approach it with an open mind, but also with common sense. The methods described below, are often the "tools" used by Clairvoyants to augment, widen or manifest their perceptions. They are not only fun, but can provide interesting insights into personality, situations, and potentials - but it is, in my opinion, unhealthy to allow them to dominate one's life!

Astrology - a complex subject, one that its' practitioners would describe as a science. It bears very little resemblance to the horoscopes that are printed in the daily Newspapers and magazines, and even less to the computer generated astrological text services!

For a true and accurate divination using Astrology, consult a professional Astrologer, who will need your date of birth, place of birth and time of birth.

Tarot - another complex subject, with many practitioners, and few true seers! Almost everyone who consults this form of divination wants to know about potential futures, interactions with loved ones, and ways in which to deal with problems and dilemmas. The Tarot persuade not only the Client, but Consultant too, to look deeper and more carefully at every aspect of a given situation.

The Tarot has a multi-dimensional quality, where one can deal with the apparent mundane, material concerns, as well as the not-so-apparent spiritual aspects - and all that exists in between. A true 'Seer' is able to synthesize this information and guide the Client towards success.

Runes - an Oracular system of divination and magic! The Runes are simple, earthy symbols rooted in the natural world and as such can be touched and related to by anyone who is willing to ally themselves with them. They can be viewed, like any other ideograph, like a frozen symbol of an actual state or concept. They stimulate the imagination and help us to understand and perceive our relationship to others and to the world; thereby allowing us to cause change.

A true Rune Master is very hard to find, and I wish you luck in your search for one!

I Ching - one of the oldest forms of divination still in existence. The I Ching is not the work of an individual but the collective wisdom of generations spanning 3000 years. It is founded on the examination of nature and humanity, and stands for the schematic, rhythmic and purposeful cosmos. 'Change not the eternal,' is the central theme, and time is identified as a vital factor in the composition of the world and the evolvement of the individual.

This system works from the premise that change is not random, and that each manifestation of existence can only transmute into something already inherent in its own nature and not into anything entirely different. This system of divination also maintains that change follows in a cyclic motion, to the ancient Chinese even death conveyed movement returning to its source, being the opposite of life, death implied the eventual return to a previous state.

The I Ching affirms that by revealing to the conscious mind what is concealed in the subconscious mind, it is possible to predict the probable future and to choose a direction accordingly, therefore we can become the masters of our own destiny and not its slaves.

Palmistry - reading palms like interpreting the cards or casting a horoscope is one of the ancient methods of divination that has survived and is as popular today as it ever was.

Palmistry however differs from other methods of divination in that it is completely personal as no two hands, like no two fingerprints, are identical.

There are two sides of palmistry, chirosophy which deals with the lines on the hand and chirognomy in which the shape of the hand and fingers are analysed. Both are closely connected, with Astrology and the different areas of the hands and fingers are associated with the planets.

Crystallomancy, Crystal Ball or Scrying - Scrying means seeing magical images in a reflective medium, such as a crystal ball. What you see can shed light on the present and guide future action. The word 'scry' comes from the Anglo-Saxon 'descry', which means to see.

Scrying in shiny surfaces has been practised in every culture and time, not only by mystics and magicians, but every girl who has gazed into a mirror and performed rituals to see her lover's face, or by any man who has sought wisdom in moonlit water.

Crystallomancy differs from other forms of scrying such as tea leaves, because the images are not formed by the medium itself, but from within your psyche.

People sometimes feel that they cannot use a crystal ball or a mirror successfully because there are no concrete images on which to work. For this reason, Scryers can become anxious and actually block the natural and very vivid images cast on to the glass by the mind's eye.

Numerology - The theory that, a name is more than just a label but the essence of, the person who bears it, is an idea stretching back throughout the years. It is on this theory coupled with the belief that numbers are a store house of magic power that the practice of divination by numbers is based.

Originally each letter of the Greek and Hebrew alphabets also stood for a number and therefore each word represented a number when its letters were added together. In this way a person's name could be reduced to a number and they would bear the characteristics associated with it.

Each of the planets also has its individual number and consequently the person who also bears that number is influenced by them.

A person's date of birth can also be used in the same way, and when coupled with their 'name' number can foretell of things to come for a particular year in their life. There are many good books and Computer programs for Numerology, but yet again, I would advise that you seek out a Professional Numerologist and book a Consultation.

201: Divination

DIVINATION

Divination is the art or practice of foretelling the unknown, the past, present and future, using different methods that the diviner may decide. The art of Divination has been practised by all countries, cultures and religeons around the world for thousands of years.

It was studies over two thousand years ago in China by the study of cracked eggs for Divination. Some of the most popular forms of divination incluse tarot cards, runes, astrology and dowsing.

How accurite the divination will depend upon the reader.

Augur
During the time of ancient Rome there were priests that were called, Augur. The Augur was tasked with the divination of the flight of birds. It was believed at the time that the flight of birds gave an indication on the will of the Gods. The divination was undertaken by studying the breed of birds, direction of flight, noises they made and other signals.

Chronomancy
This type of divination involves the determination of what will be a lucky day or an unlucky day. It also involves the determination of lucky times. For example what will be the luckiest time on a certain day to do something or what might be the bad luck times on certain days.

Pyromancy
One of the very earliest forms of divination that involves the divination of fire. There are several types of Pyromancy including
Alomancy : This involves throwing salt into a fire for divination.
Botanomancy : A form of divination that involves the burning of plants.
Daphnomancy : Divination from burning laurel leaves.
Osteomancy : Divination by heating bones over a fire to produce cracks.
Sideromancy : A form of divination by burning straw with an iron.

Abacomancy is an early form of divination by scrying the patterns of dust. If the symbols appear more then once in the sand it may give an indication of the time and date of the happening.

Aeromancy is the divination of atmospheric conditions. The first recorded use of the word Aeromancy dates back to 1753. Aeromancy includes the divination of clouds, wind currents, comets, thunder, lightning and shooting stars.

Agalmatomancy is the divination of ancient statues and was popular during the time of ancient Greece.

Alomancy is the divination from the patterns formed by salt thrown into the air. The diviner must observe the patterns as they fall to the ground.

Alphitomancy is a type of divination to establish a persons innocence or guilt. The suspected people are given barley cake or bread and those that get sick are the guilty.

Apantomancy is a form of divination based on certain objects or animals that cross your path by chance. The superstition regarding black cats comes from Apantomancy.

Our Elements: Four, Twelve, and Fifty(-One)

This is the introduction for something we like to consider basic knowledge and reference. You don't have to memorize this.

This was originally drawn up with Mysst, aka Faye, and since edited or arranged for better understanding by her.

There are the Four Elements we all know and love, and are the basics of elemental working:
Earth, Air, Fire, and Water.

With them, we introduce 8 more.

The Twelve are:

1. Air
2. Earth
3. Fire
4. Water
5. Time
6. Space
7. Light
8. Darkness.
9. Love/Despair
10. Hate/Hope
11. Chaos
12. Tranquility

This has been seldom discussed, but many places in the occult community does recognize them as existing. However, and this is where debate will come, there are in fact 50 (or 51) elements.

The Fifty-One are:

1. Air
2. Earth
3. Fire
4. Water
5. Time
6. Space
7. Light
8. Darkness.
9. Love/Despair
10. Hate/Hope
11. Chaos
12. Tranquility
13. Discord
14. Order
15. Law
16. War/Rebellion
17. Creation/Life
18. Extinction/Death
19. Innocence/Ignorance
20. Wisdom (Guilt/Knowledge)
21. Purity
22. Corruption
23. Fury
24. Madness
25. Infinity (Void/Abyss included?)
26. Finite
27. Material
28. Ether (Astral included?)
29. Mental
30. Spiritual
31. Pride/Arrogance
32. Humility/Modesty
33. Shadow
34. Rainbow
35. Flow
36. Shock
37. Force
38. Stagnation
39. Eternal
40. Truth
41. Fear
42. Courage
43. Good
44. Evil
45. "Peace"
46. "Khaos" (Raw form of Chaos?)
47. Reality
48. Illusion
49. Soul
50. Spirit
51. Akashic (13th/5th Elements, Spirit)

Notice how Spirit is placed at number Fifty, right next to Soul, and before Akashic. This is intentional, for two reasons. For the Four elements, we place Spirit as the encompassing 5th, for the association shared with them. On the Twelve, we can theoretically place it as the 13th, for the same association and encompassing.

When we expand to a larger list, of smaller and more primal aspects o thef Universe, we gain access to more. The Soul, what makes you whom you are, and your Spirit, which allows you to extend and connect with all things outside your body.

Lastly, we come to the vague but included Akashic. According to several theories and Norse mythology, Akasha is the name for the ultimate creator, or a Creator for Balance (in Umhala, with four others). Akasha becomes an element, in that all elements come from Her. In Her, and through Her, the element of Spirit becomes the encompassing 5th and 13th connections. Shared name for shared connection and paths.

This does bring up that there are a total of 38 elements not widely recognized in the occult community. The reason this list was originally composed was to being a more clarified approach to our work, especially as these 38 are considered "Primal Elements". We'll likely cover this in more detail, in another document, and why they're involved more than simply being recognized.

Now, I'd like to also display the oppositions that bring balance to each other. Following this list is a House order, based on their nature in commune with the Universe.

Oppositions (minus Akashic):

-Air VS Earth
-Fire VS Water
-Time VS Space
-Light VS Darkness
-Love/Despair VS Hate/Hope
-Chaos VS Tranquility
-Discord VS Order
-Law VS War/Rebellion
-Creation/Life VS Extinction/Death
-Innocence/Ignorance VS Wisdom (Guilt/Knowledge)
-Purity VS Corruption
-Fury VS Madness
-Infinity (Void/Abyss included?) VS Finite
-Material VS Ether/Ethereal (Astral included?)
-Mental VS Spiritual
-Pride/Arrogance VS Humility/Modesty
-Shadow VS Rainbow
-Flow VS Shock
-Force VS Stagnation
-Eternal VS Truth
-Fear VS Courage
-Good VS Evil
-"Peace" VS "Khaos" (Raw form of Chaos?)
-Reality VS Illusion
-Soul VS Spirit

Associations aka "Houses":

Elemental:
-Earth
-Air
-Fire
-Water
-Order
-Discord
-Force
-Stagnation
-Shadow
-Rainbow
-Good
-Evil
-Material
-Reality
-Mental
-Ether
-Akashic

Emotional:
-Love
-Hate
-Tranquility
-Chaos
-Flow
-Shock
-Madness
-Fury
-Fear
-Courage
-Pride/Arrogance
-Humility/Modesty
-Corruption
-Purity
-Illusion
-War/Rebellion
-Spiritual

Ethereal:
-Light
-Dark
-Time
-Space
-Spirit
-Soul
-Creation/Life
-Extinction/Death
-Khaos
-Peace
-Truth
-Law
-Wisdom
-Innocence/Ignorance
-Finite
-Infinity

Notice the two elements, Khaos and Chaos, as filed separately. The reason for this is, for lack of better terms, they are very similar but interact with the universe is separate ways. Chaos is a state of being, bringing in confusion and lack of clarify (where Tranquility would do the opposite). Khaos, currently theorized as a more raw form, is more like an elemental force. It's the underlying force for a chaotic emotion, and encourages change in many ways.

I believe others may explain it better in the comments below.

*Please note, the parentheses are for notes and possible theory. Feel free to discuss below.

201: Binding

Definition: The ancient Greeks and Romans used two basic types of binding magic to do something to someone else. Generally, this someone had wronged them or it was someone whose love they wished to keep. A famous instance of binding magic gone horribly wrong is when Deianeira gave Hercules the tunic soaked in poisoned centaur blood thinking it would keep her husband faithful to her.
One type of binding magic is the binding spell or curse, written, rolled or folded, and sometimes pierced, and the other is the figurine, erotic or otherwise, that may also be pierced or twisted or bound.

Binding spells can be written on such substrate as potsherds, limestone, gems, papyrus, wax, or ceramic as well as the preferred lead. There may be a connection between binding magic and ostracism.

The names of the victims are written in the subject (nominative) or object case (accusative) probably to show the person is being acted upon by the binding. There may be a verb of binding, like katadein, in the 1st person, so the curse tablet reads, "[So and so] I bind, her [body part/s]...."

Also Known As: The Greek term for the binding curse is katadesmos or in the plural, katedosmoi. The Latin term for the spell written on a tablet is defixio or in the plural, defixiones.
Examples:
The most commonly invoked gods for binding magic were gods and goddesses with an Underworld connection, Hecate, Persephone, and Hermes, although the other gods and goddesses could bind and even Zeus could be bound metaphorically or literally.

201: Simple Banishings

Be certain that the entity you've discovered is truly deserving of a banishing. Bad intentions can be enough, but trying to convince it to leave of its own accord is always a better option.

Research strong, protective deities that you feel a connection with, and get to know them. Choose one to call on, or maybe two if they're compatible.

Choose herbs that are protective and/or cleansing. Sage, thyme, garlic, black pepper, salt, and apples are recommended. Research the meaning behind any herbs you choose so that you can pour the right motivation and energy into the herbs.

Plan your verbal assault. Choose words that feel strong to you, and that are easy for you to say in a potentially stressful situation. Call upon your chosen deity (or deities) and be sure to demand your wishes. Throw your intention into your speech. For example, "Begone, and never mess with me again in the name of (deity/ies name/s)."

Wait for the demon to be present. Point or cast your chosen herb(s) at it and recite your speech with strength and certainty. Do not back off.

Smudging is the art of purifying an area of evil spirits by burning certain herbs. Sage smells beautiful and is often used in native American traditions.
Feel free to use aspects of your religion to strengthen your exorcism, such as pentacles and chants.
If you feel it's appropriate, learn shielding techniques and other defensive energy work.

One method that has been extremely successful in the past years in the Omni, is the Crystal Binding methods, which was discussed in previous articles, and works in the same way, except you trap the being in the crystal and bury it far away from you. We've used several types of quarts and obsidian, both having great results with it.

Remember, the more powerful the entity, the more energy you must use to send it away. If you feel you do not have adequate power to send it off, you can choose to work in a group or invoke more powerful beings. Sometimes gate work and bindings are needed to be sure it stays away.

201: Advanced Astral Projection

A fantastic book to read is Astral Dynamics, by Robert Bruce. But this is a pretty good article to get your hands on.

1. Fundamental knowledge of the basics steps Beginner's Guide. All steps must be understood.

2. Core understanding of the fundamental truths of astral projection The Fundamental Truths to Astral Projection

3. Have overcome a majority of fears associated with projection, such as startling noises, disturbing sights and odd sensations, or at least possess the ability to control most of these fears as they arise. This to me is a never ending struggle because there are an endless source of energies in the astral, each one bringing forth a different response from us (usually fear).

4. Several projections achieved so that a person can practice what they've learned. Everyone knows you can read until you're blue in the face on how to do something, but until you've done it a few times, it just doesn't sink in (imagine a pilot flying for the first time with nothing but written theory under his belt). It is impossible for you to know what it feels like to consciously exist in astral form (and all the laws governing) until you've done it! People say, "Oh, I won't be afraid.... I won't get distracted..." but they do become afraid and distracted almost every time in the beginning because there is nothing to prepare you in the physical for this experience. Even reading about someone else's experiences won't prepare you sufficiently because each astral experience is unique.

Once you leave the proximity of the physical body, the key to an advanced projection is:

- A Plan: Advanced projectors know that not having a plan will result in a huge waste of effort. And it wouldn't hurt to have a second and third goal for projection in case you are able to accomplish the first in one session. For example, after I went to the moon, my body had yet to pull me back and once my goal was accomplished I did a "now what!?" Even for advanced projector's, the ability to project is sporadic (unless they have a naturally loose hold over their astral body) and each excursion is to be relished. A plan might include any number of goals (meet a guide, see an event in history or future- like the building of the Pyramids, healing, visiting acquaintances, etc.) Have at least three!

- Focus: Too many times a beginner will fall into the Alice in Wonderland trip and slip into the dream body. When projecting, focus is needed to keep your consciousness sharp on your goal. The strangest things (astral entities or astral counterparts to physical objects--regardless of their presence in current time) may show up in front of you and you can get sidetracked faster than anything! A case in point: I projected once and found a cute kitten on my stairs and let myself get distracted, and then was unnerved by a spider's web I saw a few moments later (both fear and lack of focus taking control of the experience resulting in a total waste towards my primary goal). Another very common distraction is the ever present astral entity desiring sexual contact. Many times people will find themselves in the embrace of a stranger. Morals are not the same in the astral for obvious reasons and unless this is one of your goals, beware. Also, when things start to get fuzzy from your consciousness slipping into unconsciousness, or the dream body, you can use excellent statements such as "Clarity Now!" to clear things up.

- Use of Will: This can be used in conjunction with Focus. The Will is needed to get you where you want. When you become advanced, you WILL yourself to your destination. You no longer take familiar physical routes, but use intense desire/will to get you to your destination instantaneously. This is particularly helpful if you don't have a firm point in space/time for where you want to go (past, future, non-earth locations). An example of Will was when I won the daily lottery. It took me five attempts in one morning to succeed! My success was when I really WILLED for the numbers. It wasn't until I expelled a great amount of force that they popped up. Passive desire may not be enough (but sometimes it is). Dr. Douglas M. Baker states in his article, "The Techniques of Astral Projection" states that for advanced astral projection "the desire factor is present and strong but is overshadowed by the will. A powerful will is required to project the astral form over great distances."

- Knowledge: Before you can do advanced things like healing, you need to further your field of study into chakras, energies, karma and how each one works. For example, someone may be suffering an ailment to learn a specific life lesson or because of a karmic tie. Before healing anyone, you should consult with their higher self and ask if you should even be doing it. You can't heal until you know what polluted energies look like (what color they are and why).

To be an advanced projector, one must really master the non-physical self.

201: Astral Projection ideas & correspondences

Astral projection is simply mental/spiritual travel out of the body to any place on the astral plane; the realm of dreams and spirits etc. It's as easy as daydreaming, but full transfer of consciousness to the point where the experience is more real than normal waking reality takes practice.

The most basic methods for projecting involve closing the eyes, getting into a deeply relaxed state via meditation, and 'believing' that you are in a place. Try to feel that you are actually in a different place from where your body is located. It can be across the room even. Touch the walls with your mental 'body' (just as you would have in a dream), and try to feel them as real.

Believe you are in a place, and you will be there.

Early attempts at projection are often like controlled daydreams, but with practice they become more real and vivid, and contact with the physical realm can even be made and information brought back with accuracy. The biggest problem most people have is that they think there will always be an immediate conscious separation of the body/mind that they will be able to witness right away. When learning to project, try not to pay any attention to your body or the act of separation. Usually, consciousness of the body is never fully lost (you just ignore the body in favor of the vision), and the transfer of consciousness over to the 'vision' or astral landscape is most easily accomplished by allowing it to occur gradually; the more you practice 'seeing' with your mind and traveling with your mind, the more you'll be able to focus your attention on the astral plane, and transfer of consciousness will be gradual and almost unnoticed. This is the easiest way to project. (Note: some people refer to this method as projection of the mental body - projection of the astral/etheric body is far more intense in feeling/perception but some people do it more gradually, whereas others learn to do it instantly. It doesn't matter how you get there so long as you eventually do.) Some people can and do experience a definite separation that occurs everytime, but that is a different method of projecting I won't go into here (Edain McCoy refers to it in her book as chakra projection). The end results of projection are essentially the same, however.

What does a true projection feel like? In the later stages of projecting when you are becoming skilled at it, a full projection usually feels and appears to be even more REAL than regular physical reality. Colors and sounds are far more vivid, and sight is broader in scope (not limited by eyes). In some ways it is like being awake and super-conscious in a dream, but more vivid and real than any normal dream you've ever had.

Astral Work Correspondences
Herbs---Sandalwood, bezoin, hazel, lavender, valerian, mugwort, jasmine, thyme
Stones---Amethyst, moonstone, peridot, labradorite, carnelian
Colour--- Purple, white
Day of the Week--- Monday
Element--- Water

201: AP Mistakes

If you feel like you've been trying to project for a long time and seem to be getting nowhere, you may need to review your techniques and adjust accordingly.

The following are what I see as the most common mistakes people make while trying to learn to astral project. While these really aren't "mistakes" because they work for some people, they do seem to slow progress down.

1. Trying at night. If you try to project at night, especially before you go to bed, nine times out of ten, you will fall asleep. You've had a long day, your body is worn out, so how can you expect to achieve Focus 10 or Focus 12 (body asleep, mind awake)? You need to either try earlier in the afternoon, or switch to weekends when you can sleep in. If you switch to the weekends and use, for example, my technique that I wrote about under the Astral Projection link called "My Favorite Technique" then you're very relaxed and can slip back into sleep, yet the mind is refreshed and more likely to get into Focus 10. Try it and see.

2. Fear. Are you afraid you are going to die? That someone will cut your cord? You'll be possessed? Any of these fears will keep you thinking about this, and not letting yourself project. Always address your fears before expecting any results.

3. Inner dialog. Are you talking the whole time? Saying things like, "Is this right?" or "I wonder if I'm close?" To induce the vibrations, you have to have no thoughts. Your thoughts need to be narrowed down to a single thread. When you are trying to get your body asleep, stop talking to yourself and "listen". Listen to the faint ring in your head, but don't analyze it. Listen, but don't talk. When I induce the vibrations, my body has fallen asleep, the ringing has faded (because now I'm asleep), and I'm gently focusing on my third eye. All my thoughts are gone. This takes a while to master, but is necessary. Also, if you do slip off onto other thoughts, just let that happen, but gently pull your thoughts back to the single thread and keep focusing on your third eye.

4. Not understanding relaxation vs. body asleep. I get mails all the time from people saying that they are trying to astral project with their eyes open! To leave your body, you have to reduce the magnetic pull to the point that separation can occur. All things electrical create a magnetic pull. Even thinking sends out electronic pulses and creates magnetism. Pulse and heart rate also creates energy. Do not confuse "relaxation" with Focus 10. Focus 10 is Body Asleep. You have to learn how to fall asleep physically, but keep your consciousness from slipping into a dream. When the body falls asleep, everything slows down which reduces your bodies magnetic pull. Then, if you can master the "no thought" part, the vibrations will rush in. And when they do, you still have to keep your thoughts to a minimum because the excitement will increase the heart and pulse rate and then you'll be sending me mails saying that you can only raise your astral arms or legs! Most of the primary chakras are in the head and torso region which is why your head is the last to separate. So excited thoughts only make it harder. As my guide told me, "Get out of your head!" To tell if your body is asleep, you should no longer feel it, shouldn't be able to hear, and hypnogogic imagery will start appearing. Don't fight the images, just don't let them take over or you'll start to dream. Always gently bring your consciousness back to the project at hand.

5. Impatience. Conscious astral projection can take months or even years to accomplish. If you are expecting results in days or weeks, you will more than likely give up or doubt its existence. Astral projection takes discipline, dedication, and a ton of patience. It will happen, but be prepared for the long haul. It's worth the wait and effort.

These five are the top reasons, but others can include not removing distractions (kids, pets, phones, spouses), or not getting enough sleep so that when you do sleep you sleep like a log and can't keep the mind awake.

201: Astral Proj tips

Astral projection is also referred to as an out-of-the-body experience and it literally means the same. It is the state when the person is out of his body and goes through out-of-the-world experiences. Here are some free astral projection for beginners tips.
What is Astral Projection?

In the beginning, science did not believe in the phenomena of spirits or anything supernatural. However, in the past few decades, scientists have conducted experiments involving spirits and the outcomes have obliged them to conclude that 'supernatural' indeed exists. There are theories about dreams wherein people say that what you dream is actually what your soul experiences in another world, the ‘dream world’. In fact, many are convinced, to a certain extent, of this theory themselves since they have dreamed and seen heavenly places. They describe it like, ‘nothing was fictitious about those places’, but still they would somehow call the places out-of-the-world. They recall that after seeing these dreams, they felt completely rejuvenated and refreshed.

There have been times when people have felt that they are watching their body from outside it. Though these moments lasted just for a few seconds, they were enough to compel them to believe that there is indeed something supernatural in each and every human being. Those who can arise it, can use the powers to do many other abnormal (in the regular sense) things. Science also claims that the power of the human brain is infinite and that all humans utilize only 10% of their brains. The rest 90% is resting which is also called as our sub-conscious mind. The ones who can use anything more than 10% can achieve many impossible things.

The Egyptians would mummify the dead bodies and bury them with food and water with the belief that the spirits/ghosts of the dead would require the material in their afterlife. Well, astral projection is something like afterlife, the major difference being that in astral projection you can travel the astral plane while you are still alive unlike afterlife, when it is believed that the spirit travels the astral plane after death. The astral plane is said to be a plane of existence that every soul passes before birth and after death. It is an imaginary, intermediate place that some believe, exists between the heaven and the earth that is said to be inhabited by angels, demons and other immaterial existences. Some people who have had near-death experiences, especially during accidents, have reported this weird feeling of watching the accident happening from a distance i.e. from outside their own body. People have also reported to have astral projected when their mind and body were extremely stressed or even under the influence of drugs. Although, such citings are not strictly said to be astral projection experiences.

While most have had such experiences in extreme conditions, there are those few who practice astral projection as an art. Some of us, especially who are acrophobic i.e. those who have a fear of heights, dream about falling from a tall cliff and as we keep falling eventually we feel that we have separated from our body and watching ourselves fall down in to nothingness, that’s when we wake up with a start. Some state that this could also be an astral projection experience. By now, it is clear that during an astral projection the state of the mind is something other than normal. So, to induce an astral projection the mind state has to be changed to those levels. This is mostly done through meditation and other advanced astral projection techniques.

Tips for Astral Projection for Beginners

People practicing astral projection can leave their physical body and make their astral body travel anyplace, at anytime by controlling the state of the mind and falling into 'half-sleep'. The whole time you are astral projecting, it is necessary that you should be able to maintain this state.

For this purpose, a beginner is usually suggested to do breathing exercises and listen to soothing music that may help him to get control over his mind. Relaxation of the mind and body at the same time is very important for astral projection. Any overwhelming feelings should be kept under control, especially when you are beginning the experience newly. Any kind of distraction or negative thoughts should be kept at bay when astral projecting. External disturbances should be none. You should strongly desire what you want and should be well motivated so that you can achieve it as soon as possible.

To get an experience of astral projection for beginners, it is suggested that you can try staring at a spot on the back of the head. Your focus needs to be intense and you cannot afford to get distracted. The intense focus helps you to change the state of your consciousness and you may experience astral projection for fraction of seconds. Those who have some experience of meditation can try to focus with closed eyes and try to see a particular thing. You have to clear your head and think intently about that one thing however, try not to imagine about the object or experience hallucination, as this may prove to be a false astral projection.

Astral projection is gaining popularity in modern days and many desire to learn astral projection art. While some claim it to be fiction, the ones who practice and have gone through it believe that astral projection for beginners show them that there is more to it than meets the eye.

201: Astral Projection

Astral Projection

Reality is created by thought projection (consciousness) into the physical. There are 5 subtle bodies In astral projection the conscious mind leaves the physical body and moves into the astral body to experience. In astral projection you remain attached to your physical body by a 'silver umbilical type cord'. Some people are able to see the cord when astral projecting. To astral project, as with all out-of-body experiences, one must feel totally relaxed, clothing fitting comfortable, reclining is best. Often a comforter is best over the body as the physical body sometimes gets cold when you travel out.

When you astral project you are consciously aware of things you encounter while out of your physical body.

Some people can astral project naturally. Others are afraid to remove their consciousness from the physical body and never learn to astral project.

Astral projection (or astral travel) is an out-of-body experience achieved either awake or via lucid dreaming or deep meditation. People who say they experience astral projection often say that their spirit or astral body has left their physical body and moves in another dimension known as the spirit world or astral plane. The concept of astral projection has been around and practiced for thousands of years, dating back to ancient China. It is currently often associated with the New Age movement.

Psychics often say that the subconscious (or dreaming) mind contains the spirit or astral body, resulting in falling dreams or waking up with a falling sensation or sudden jerk. Most dreams are not remembered by the conscious mind, making the experience of astral projection a subject of subjectivity. Believers in astral projection point out, though, that most ghost sightings often define the ghost as a lucid or transparent apparition walking the earth.

It is unclear whether every physical object has an 'astral' counterpart, or if a spirit literally uses incarnation into a physical body and this is what results in astral projections, or if the phenomena is something else entirely. Astral projection also touches on life itself and what happens after physical death.

There are two general schools of thought on the nature of astral projection. These can broadly be defined as the mystical model and the phasing model.

The Phasing Model, which was defined by Robert Monroe, holds the belief that it is impossible to actually leave your body in the truest sense of the word, and that the astral planes and the physical world are merely points on the long spectrum of consciousness. When a person projects, they actually "phase" into another area of consciousness and the locales it contains. This can be likened to tuning a radio to another station. One of the initial signposts representing a phase shift away from physical reality has been labeled the state of focus 10 (mind awake/body asleep). This viewpoint can be seen as a logical progression of the philosophy that external reality is actually an internally created state
The Mystical Model includes a large variety of belief systems and astral maps, but they are tied together by their belief that astral projection takes place outside of the actual physical body. In this model, a more subtle energy body is believed to carry the consciousness outside of the physical body. In their book Projection of the Astral Body, Carrington and Muldoon detail how consciousness is transferred into a secondary "energy" body (the etheric body) to allow travel into the astral planes. This idea is also described by other authors such as Robert Peterson in his book Out of Body Experiences: How to have them and what to expect (chapters 5, 17, 22), and Robert Bruce in his book Astral Dynamics (pages 31-33, 404-410, 538). Bruce expanded on this idea in his book Astral Dynamics, stating that higher planes of existence are reached through the progressive projection of subtler energy bodies from previous projected bodies (pages 33-42). The subtle body is attached to the physical body by means of an energetic connection which usually takes the appearance of a silver cord 'plugging' into the chakra system like an umbilical cord. Robert Peterson describes this in chapter 13 of his book Out of Body Experiences, Robert Bruce in his book Astral Dynamics (pages 27, 52-53, 84, 397-403,544) and by Carrington and Muldoon in their book Projection of the Astral Body.

Kinds of Projection
Astral Projection - The traveler finds him- or herself in an apparently real domain, analogous to the "other worlds" experienced by traditional peoples, which have no parallel to any physical setting or to consensus reality, described by New Agers and occultists as the astral plane or "the astral". Environments here may range from populated to unpopulated, artificial to natural to completely abstract environments and from beautific to horrific. Here, normal physical laws often do not apply and humans can often, for example, float or fly. Quality of physical detail ranges from crude, non-detailed and depressing to bright, vivid and fascinating as detailed, among other writers, by Robert Bruce in his Astral Dynamics.

Travelers may travel from one realm to the other. Projectors may find access to visions of the past or future and to the Akashic Records accessible from here. It has been said that space and time do not exist on the astral plane nor the higher planes, but no explanation is given as to how forms and entire environments can exist without spatial dimensions, nor why there can be a sequence of events and yet no such thing as time. Many travelers have theorized that people having dreams actually travel to the astral realms, unaware, and, again as reported in Astral Dynamics, travelers have reported seeing dreamers enact dream scenarios on the astral plane, unaware of the more extensive and varied non-physical environment surrounding them. Some also claim common movements in dreams, such as falling or feeling like you are walking through quicksand, is the astral body in action.

Etheric Projection - In contrast to "astral" projection, the traditional understanding of out-of-body experiences involves the projector (or traveler) moving about in usually invisible or ghost-like form in a mundane physical reality‹the etheric body. This world may, however, have minor differences between the physical reality world we know if strict mind control is not maintained. Proponents of the writings of Robert Bruce sometimes refer to this practice as "Real Time Projection" (RTP) and the mundane world as the "Real Time Zone" (RTZ). From the Real Time Zone, travelers can access "the astral" or remain in the RTZ and witness real time happenings.

In Western theosophy, each subtle body is functionally distinct. Since the etheric body and astral body are not the same, according to several sources (noted below), they can not possibly represent the same kind of psychic activity.

Alice Bailey, in Telepathy and the Etheric Vehicle (Lucis Trust), stated that the etheric and astral bodies should not be confused. She indicated that "HPB" (Helena P. Blavatsky) had erroneously merged the two concepts, in order to cover a "mass of information anent the etheric [and] astral" (pages 140-141).
The Rosicrucian Fellowship has released several publications on the "etheric region" and the etheric body, as well as their integral relationship with the physical state of being (see Max Heindel, et al). The Theosophical Society, having several branches around the world, also has published literature on both the etheric and astral states. To them, the etheric body is actually the same as the physical; however, it "rests" at a slightly different frequency than regular matter.

Lawrence Bendit and Phoebe Bendit wrote a book called The Etheric Body of Man (Theosophical Publishing), in which the analysis of a psychiatrist meets the psychic visions of an alleged clairvoyant. Therein, the authors explain how the etheric body is a functionally separate body from the physical, and yet they share a mutual relationship, all of which seem to be consistent with how ether and etheric projection is believed to operate, as depicted in other literature.

The term was coined at least as far back as the 1940s, by Dion Fortune in her book Psychic Self Defense (Red Wheel/Weiser). She details how an etheric body (during etheric projection), once projected, is "sufficiently physical enough" to be mutually observed by on-lookers (pages 20-22).

James H. Brennan, in The Astral Projection Workbook (Sterling Pubishing), devotes an entire section of his book to etheric projection and its constituents (pages 17-28).

Annie Besant, in The Seven Principles of Man (Theosophical Publishing House) actually explained that the "etheric double" can be separated from the physical body: This etheric double is the exact double or counterpart of the [physical] body to which it belongs, and is separable [from it]... When separated from the [physical] body it is visible to the clairvoyant as an exact replica thereof, united to it by a slender thread... (pages 8-9).

Stuart Wilde in The Sixth Sense (Hay House) wrote that the etheric body (not astral) is the "true" individual, and that its function is to allow psychic abilities to actually surface. He stated that astral projection is not at all part of the etheric body's actions, and that it is more a "mental state [of reverie]" (page 102). Further, he said that the etheric body is actually the vehicle used in an OBE, and that calling it astral projection is misleading (pages 102-103).

Mental Projection
Mental projection is projection of the astral body to the mental plane via utilisation of mental energy while within the astral or etheric to phase into the Mental, or a different process used to project directly into the Mental Plane. The active subtle body of the mental plane is the mental body, which constitutes the intellectual consciousness of the projector in general. The environment is generally highly colorful and kaleidoscopic in nature, like the astral, and shifting consciously. The difference is that even mathematical functions and thoughts will manifest seemingly physically. The buffer zone between the astral and mental planes is known as the Akashic Records, and appears as a library of knowledge of past, present, and future possibility. There are many theories as to why the perceptions of these records and the mental plane in general differ from projector to projector, but the general consensus is that the Akashic records will appear differently, like a computer or library to different people at different times, and that the future is always sketchy and can often change mid-viewing to the projector.

Roman Catholic View
Astral Projection is a forbidden practice for Roman Catholics because the soul; containing all reason, thought, memories, emotion, attitudes, and beliefs; leaves the physical body during a wake state, and this can cause bizarre belief systems to develop, based on improperly interpreted sensations from the reality elevated from, and parallel to three dimensional reality.

The soul in an agnostic state; that is indifferent toward The Holy Trinity, or Triune God - God The Father, God The Son, and God The Holy Spirit; is left without protection, roaming the atmosphere, and perhaps some distance beyond this in a spiritual ghetto that surrounds the earth: The Third Heaven. The Third Heaven is ruled by spiritual hosts of wickedness in the high places, which will send demons to deceive those who will not keep to the domain of the world.

A human soul, when detached from the physical body, during a waking state, without the protection of The Roman Catholic God, Jesus Christ, is very vulnerable to molestation by demons.

Roman Catholics refer to escorted travel in the spiritual dimension, an anointing. Jesus Christ is The Anointed of God, Who, while in human form was constantly aware of All Truth, regardless of the shortcomings of the human sensory channels. He was, therefore, constantly in a state of Astral Projection, or anointing. The anointed of God will prophesy Truth directly from God, perform miraculous healings, order the atmosphere to obey them, stop rain from falling in a certain area, pass through solid objects, and/or become invisible when threatened.

Robert Monroe - Monroe Technique
Robert Monroe in his series of books makes several references to a "second body", which he says must be "shed" in order to be completely free. Because many of his fantastical adventures are alleged to happen after this shedding, he was most likely referring to the etheric body and etheric projection.

Robert Allan Monroe (1915 - 1995) was a psychic researcher and author of

Monroe gives a detailed description of the "second body". It has weight, is visible under certain conditions, produces a sensation of touch just like the physical touch, and yet it is very plastic and may adopt any form required of it. Possibly, suggests Monroe, the second body is a reversal of the physical. He even relates this to his ideas that it may consist of antimatter, although what he means is obscure. As for a cord, he tried feeling it on some of his excursions, but it was not an important part of his experience. Finally he suggests that the second body is related in some important way to electricity and magnetism. In experiments in a Faraday cage he found that he could not pass through the walls when a current was passed through them, but when it was turned off he could (though sufficient details are not given to assess the explanation fairly). He suggests a "third force" to add to electricity and magnetism which is used by the second body and fundamental to thought.

What can we make of Monroe's descriptions? As always it is hard to disentangle what he has discovered about locations others might visit, from the product of his own bias or preoccupations. Some of his descriptions sound familiar, but many seem only odd.

Many people confuse this phenomenon with astral travel; however, etheric travel is mainly related to that which can and does exist, physically. During this type of experience, there are no fantastical worlds, or self-absorbed encounters; the majority of the experience can be validated. Dr. Charles Tart has done many experiments and tentatively concluded that the person may not have invented the experience - unlike astral travel, where the experience is conceptual. For example, in a 1967 study, a subject was unable to discover a five digit number written down and placed face up in an adjoining room, but did provide some details of the activities of the technician monitoring the experiment. Tart summarizes, "Thus, there is some indication that ESP may have been involved with respect to the technician's activities, but it is not at all conclusive."

According to Arthur Powell and Max Heindel, the etheric "double" serves as a medium between the astral and physical realms. Ether, also called prana, is the "vital force" that empowers the Physical forms in order for change to take place. This means that when one views the physical during an OBE, they are not technically "in" the astral realm at all.

The Monroe Technique

Step One:

Relax the body. According to Monroe, "the ability to relax is the first prerequisite, perhaps even the first step itself" to having an OBE. (out of body experience). This includes both physical and mental relaxation. Monroe does not suggest a method of attaining this relaxation, although progressive muscle relaxation, coupled with deep breathing exercises (inhale 1, exhale 2, inhale 3... until about 50 or 100) are known to work well.

Step Two:

Enter the state bordering sleep. This is known as the hypnogogic state. Once again, Monroe doesn't recommend any method of doing this. One way is to hold your forearm up, while keeping your upper arm on the bed, or ground. As you start to fall asleep, your arm will fall, and you will awaken again. With practice you can learn to control the hypnogogic state without using your arm. Another method is to concentrate on an object. When other images start to enter your thoughts, you have entered the hypnogogic state. Passively watch these images. This will also help you maintain this state of near-sleep. Monroe calls this Condition A.

Step Three:

Deepen this state. Begin to clear your mind. Observe your field of vision through your closed eyelids at the blackness in front of your. After a while you may start to notice light patterns. These are simply neural discharges. They have no specific effect. Ignore them. When they cease, one has entered what Monroe calls Condition B. From here, one must enter an even deeper state of relaxation which Monroe calls Condition C-- a state of such relaxation that you lose all awareness of the body and sensory stimulation. You are almost in a void in which your only source of stimulation will be your own thoughts.

The ideal state for leaving your body is Condition D. This is Condition C when it is voluntarily induced from a rested and refreshed condition and is not the effect of normal fatigue. To achieve Condition D, Monroe suggests that you practice entering it in the morning just as you are getting up, or after a short nap.

Step Four:

Enter a state of Vibration. This is the most important part of the technique, and also the most vague. Many projectors have noted these vibrations at the onset of projection. They can be experienced as a mild tingling, or as if electricity is being shot through the body. Their cause is a mystery. It may actually be the astral body trying to leave the physical body.

For entering into the vibrational state, he offers the following directions:

1. Remove all jewelry or other items that might be touching your skin.

2. Darken the room so that no light can be seen through your eyelids, but do not shut out all light.

3. Lie down with your body along a north-south axis, with your head pointed toward magnetic north.

4. Loosen all clothing, but keep covered so that you are slightly warmer than what might normally be comfortable.

5. Be sure you are in a location where, and at a time when, there will be absolutely no noise to disturb you.

6. Enter a state of relaxation.

7. Give yourself the mental suggestion that you will remember all that occurs during the upcoming session that will be beneficial to your well being. Repeat this five times.

8. As your breathe, concentrate on the void in front of you.

9. Select a point a foot away from your forehead, then change your point of mental reference to six feet.

10. Turn the point 90 degrees upward by drawing an imaginary line parallel to your body axis up above you head. Focus there and reach out for the vibrations at that point and bring them back into your body.

Even if you don't know what these vibrations are, you will know when you have achieved contact with them.

Step Five:

Learn to control the vibrational state. Practice controlling them by mentally pushing them into your head, down to your toes, making them surge throughout your entire body, and producing vibrational waves from head to foot. To produce this wave effect, concentrate on the vibrations and mentally push a wave out of your head and guide it down your body. Practice this until you can induce these waves on command. Once you have control of the vibrational state, you are ready to leave the body.

Step Six:

Begin with a partial separation. The key here is thought control. Keep your mind firmly focused on the idea of leaving the body. Do not let it wander. Stray thoughts might cause you to lose control of the state.

Now having entered the vibrational state, begin exploring the OBE by releasing a hand or a foot of the "second body". Monroe suggests that you extend a limb until it comes in contact with a familiar object, such as a wall near your bed. Then push it through the object. Return the limb by placing it back in to coincidence with the physical one, decrease the vibrational rate, and then terminate the experiment. Lie quietly until you have fully returned to normal. This exercise will prepare you for full separation.

Step Seven:

Dissociate yourself from the body. Monroe suggests two methods for this. One method is to lift out of the body. To do this, think about getting lighter and lighter after entering the vibrational state. Think about how nice it would be to float upward. Keep this thought in mind at all costs and let no extraneous thoughts interrupt it. An OBE will occur naturally at this point.

Another method is the "Rotation Method" or "roll-out" technique. When you have achieved the vibrational state, try to roll over as if you were turning over in bed. Do not attempt to roll over physically. Try to twist your body from the top and virtually roll over into your second body right out of your physical self. At this point, you will be out of the body, but next to it. Think of floating upward, and you should find yourself floating above the body.

Silva Method
According to its proponents, the Silva Method (Silva Mind Control, Remote viewing) is a self-empowerment system to shape beliefs, augment personal success and view distant objects or locations and connect with a higher intelligence for guidance. Jose Silva developed pseudoscientific explanations of brain function and its relationship with a higher consciousness in the 1960s.

According to its proponents, the technique aims to reach and sustain a higher state of mental functioning, called alpha state, where brainwave frequency is eight to thirteen Hz. The method also uses visualizations and affirmations. Advocates attest to healing, better attainment of goals, ESP and cure from addictions.

Jose Silva, founder of the Silva Method, claimed to have developed a program that trained people to enter certain brain states of enhanced awareness. He also claimed to have developed several systematic mental processes to use while in these states allowing a person to mentally project with a specific intent. According to Silva, once the mind is projected, a person can allegedly view distant objects or locations and connect with higher intelligence for guidance. The information received by the projected mind is then said to be perceived as thoughts, images, feelings, smells, taste and sound by the mind. The information obtained in this manner can be acted upon to solve problems.

J. B. Rhine, long-time parapsychology researcher at Duke University, coined the term, Extra-sensory perception (ESP). He thought that the psychic senses were an extra sense that only a few very special people had. Silva modified the phrase "Extra-sensory Perception" to "Effective Sensory Projection". Silva kept the same initials, ESP, but the revised meaning suggests that it is a more dynamic activity. In 1953, Silva believed he had trained his daughter to be psychic, and he introduced his training methods to Rhine with his daughter as proof. Rhine's response was that Silva's daughter was a natural psychic and he just hadn't noticed it before. Subsequently, Silva began working with another subject. This time, he tested his subject first to be sure he was not functioning as a psychic. Over the next ten years, Silva claimed to have trained thirty-nine more subjects to be psychics.

Another discovery claimed as successful is remote viewing. Rather than passively waiting for impressions to be perceived, a person projects him- or herself mentally and remotely views what is going on in a process similar to lucid dreaming.

Alleged successes with his methods convinced Silva that everyone has such abilities and can be taught to develop them, and that it is not an extra sense at all, but an unneeded - therefore undeveloped - sense. Everything happens first in the mind, he reasoned, then happens in the body. A person mentally decides to pick up a glass of water and drink it, then does it physically. Your life is the manipulation of the set rules of this universe, the trick is learning how to manipulate the rules right.

The Silva Method is now a multi-million dollar business with thousands of Silva Method instructors teaching the system over several days to groups of students in numerous countries worldwide.

The system has also spawned many books, some of them authored or co-authored by Jose Silva, with many others based on the basic principles of the method but spreading into other areas of awareness and application whilst in the alpha state.

The Silva Method is one of a number of therapeutic techniques sometimes grouped under the name Human potential movement.

Practice Techniques

Quiet your mind. Clear your thoughts. In your mind think ...

"I'm going to count down from 3 to 1, visualizing each number on a white orb suspended in the air above my head. When I reach the third and final "1" my body will be deeply relaxed. I will have no awareness of physical sensations. I will not perceive any physical discomfort. My consciousness will be focused on my astral body."

Now visualize a white orb suspended in the air above your head. Mentally focus on the orb I visualize a number "3" on the face of the orb. The numbers can be any color. They may vary with each experience. Visualize the 3 - three times: three number "3's" on the orb. Your body is completely relaxed. You are losing awareness of your physical body. (3 references 3D or the physical mind)

Repeat the visualization with three number "2's." You are into greater relaxation. Now visualize the "1's." You are losing awareness of physical sensations. Your consciousness will be in your astral body.

Repeat this using the number "1's" three times. Your consciousness is now in my astral body. This could involve training of several sessions. You may also find audio tapes that take you down into these altered states as well. You getting better and faster as you go along each time. There is no set agenda for how often you practice astral projection or any other out-of-body technique. It soon becomes fun. It is like a deep meditation. The key is to remain conscious while my body is asleep. Different thoughts may pull you from your focus as the mind loves to chatter. Just push these thoughts away.

Uprising of the Stars

"The spiral continues to bring the red horse upon the lands.
The tablets are following it's tail, the Red Kachina!
All that was revealed can not be hidden, never again.
What was corrupted will now strike fast, lead by Machiva.

The Uprising has begun inside and
The Uprising has begun on the outside
It has crossed over."---Gwen

Last year three of us went to the National Rainbow Gathering in the Allegheny Mountains of Pennsylvania. We met with a self-proclaimed Shaman and had a few meetings discussing prophecies there were expected to be soon filled. Every year on the Fourth of July, we are silent until noon. We spoke to some of the Elders and asked for consent to break the silence early by speaking the prophecies to the masses, while the children were gone and in Kiddie Villiage. While Rainbow Family in Main Meadow continued to OM, four of us stood in a circle around the Peace Pole and spoke of many prophecies. We spoke of the Phoenix Rising. We spoke of the Hopi Prophcies and their warnings of the Blue and Red Kachina, of the Natural Purification, of the need to know where your water is, know where your garden is, and make right relations. We spoke of the Sennica Indians offer to extend their protection during the Purification to their brothers and sisters, the Rainbow Tribe. It was said that the BP Oil spill was only the beginning. We warned the people they needed to be prepared, they needed to embrace the Great Awakening, and find balance in themselves and encourage it throughout the world. We said "We Can Not Be Silent Anymore!" And then we quieted and OM'ed with the rest, and it one of the most magickal and mind blowing experiences I have ever had. I asked for the protection from Akasha, the Great Spirit, to bless our people. The energy radiated out of me like a funnel and swirled dozens of feet above my head and the colors fell back on the family like rain drops. A young woman found me afterwards, crying, and said "You were so colorful!" and hugged me.

Some people were not so appreciative of our message. It angered some. It scared others. Some mocked us and laughed. But the message was given and many accepted it. But I would think now, even those skeptics, might be reconsidering what we said. Since this event, the spiral has spread throughout the world, the revolts have begun, the cyber war has peaked, people are rebeling, governments are taking more power and murdering their own people daily, war has increased, the weather has changed drastically, records occur every day. Natural Disasters increase in strength and consistancy every day. We have also brought down the False Veil. Since then, the truth, in so many things, is being revealed, whether it's affecting a relationship, or a country in arms. I can see the energy vibrating from the earth and the sky. I can see the shadows from the OtherWorlds, and the voices of the Earth are speaking to us all. We can hear it. We can feel it. Kether and Malkuth become closer to each other every second. More people are awakening every day and coming foward with their own Truth. Reports of paranornal and supernatural activity has increased drastically. We still have so much work to do, and we are seriously running out of time. The Tower Falls next year. What will happen? It is hard to say. what we did vibrated and echoed through the world. "I cannot be silent anymore!" It is time to find our temples, our sacred space, where we can be safe. It is time to resist the growing rift in the world which brings extremities, imbalance, corruption, abuse of Mother Earth, and takes away all our liberties. It is time to become One with the Spirit. Not caring does not protect you. Ignoring it will not make it go away. Indifference is man's greatest weakness and allows the greatest of evils to persist. We are the bringers of the messages from beyond the stars.

Here are the prophecies of No-Eyes, a Chippewa Medicine Woman. Notice, that most of these events, have come to pass very recently, and have not improved much since. You can also easily adjust this ritual to a more hermetic approach, with the lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram or GRP. Or you can simply lay back in a quiet place and do the visualization exercise i recommended and ignore ritual all together. A
nything and everything will help.

This ritual is meant to build up power and literally unravel the threads of the false veil from what you already did two weeks ago, but more than cut, but to eliminate them all together. I know some of the visualizations we did last time pulled do
wn the threads a little after cutting them, but this time we will put more power into it, and bring "death" of
the New Moon into the existance of the veil. As we u
nravel, it will deminish and eventually disapear entirely.

The solar eclipse will only be visible in mostly non inhabitable places of the world, but it should create energy fluctuation all over, and we can take that to good use, I should imagine.

If you don't have any figurings or statues with these symbols, you ca
n draw them, or even print them out on a piece of paper. I would suggest to get a knife to use, a dagger or athame of some kind. If none are available
, or if you prefer, you can use your finger to channel the power instead of a knife. I usually also incorporate a pentacle, salt, a chalice and incense in every ritual i do, but this all depends on your magical tradition, of course. but remember, tools are not i
mportant...in this instance, a couple similar symbols would link us all in our power, bu
t tools are only a focus point...the intent and your mind and your will is the most important. i realize some of you may be inexperienced magical practitioners...just don't let that discourage you...just try your hardest and focus as hard as you can, and s
omething good will come of it. the more doubt, the less you will achieve. believe in yourself and keep focused. Also, when chanting something, it is important to sound sureof yourself. if you are musically inclined, you can sometimes turn it into a sort of song, but what is important, is to say it strongly, and think of what you mean when you say it.

This ritual can be performed alone or as a group. One person should be in charge of doing most of the ritual, but any chanting, particularly with the longer verses, can be chanted together. The the elemental calling, the elements should be evenly divided between the participants, and in a way so the elements the individuals feel closest to are selected appropriately.

Stand facing in the east, raise your arms in the air and call out

"I consecrate this circle of power to the ancient ones. Here may they manifest and bless thier child"

Move to your altar, facing the east

"This is a time that is not a time. In a place that is not a place. On a day that is not a day. I stand between the worlds, before the veil of mysteries. May the ancient ones help and protect me on my magickal journey. "

You can draw the circle in any way you wish. I prefer to mark it out in my mind by circling the circle with the dagger and walk around *CLOCKWISE* and visualize a blue tip of light etching it out. Some people like to actually draw the circle, with sand or ashes. As well as taking holy salt water and sprinkling it around, also clockwise, and a
s well with the incense...this not only purifies the area, but molds out the circle. once the circle is made, do not leave it until you open it back up at the end. (there is also the option, where you can consecrate your tools, but i was trying to make this more simple for those who aren't as experienced. instead of a long drawn out process, you may cleanse them with water and ask your deities or the earth to cleanse and bless them.)

~Invocation of the Elements~
(i would encourage you to use the Invocation of the 12 elements, instead, if you prefer. If you are comfortable with the twelve elements, a more traditional four elemental chant can be used instead)

You can light a can
dle for each, or whatever you like.

Help us to realize when apathy is the best solution
and when hate empowers us.
The dark spirit of malice will not consume us
but charge us in battle
Help us to direct our emotions toward creative ends that will
forever give us the strength to obtain our goals.
Be with us

as there is no light without darkness
but we will walk the path of light when we must.
May the light not blind us but guide us to enlightenment.
Be with us

Darkness

I call upon the spirit of darkness
black etheric shadow of mystery and death,
secrecy upon the dark side o
f the moon and the setting sun
I seek out the shadows that have eluded us
and engraved the mysteries of eternity within our hearts
I seek out the protection and understanding within
myself
and the universe to have the power to destroy,
the indepenedence of thought.
Help us to remember the balan
ce of the yin and yang
as there is no darkness without light
and to live and walk with the darkness when we must.
May the shadows not blind us but guide us into self fullfillment.

And for the 13th

We keep the faith until
the sky falls upon us
and crushes us
Until the earth opens and swallows us
Until the Seas arise and overwealm us
Until the land is burnt to
ash
By the Plains of the living spirits
in the center of all,
From Umhala
By the Fifth and the Thirteenth
By the Spirit of al
l things
Ire, Akasha, Ire, Akasha
We call you forth, Theot se!
Akasha, Spirit, watch over me
I am your child so mote it be

above, by the heavenly realm
and all the Spirits on high
below- by the Underworld
and all the Sidhe below

As above, so below. We become one with all.
As above, so below, we are al
l one, AlOne"
---------------------------------

Face the East and rise hands or dagger

"This circle is bound with power all around. Between the
worlds, I stand with protection at hand. "

(as a group, chant this 3 times)

"Spirit of the great white light
Burn away our psychic night
let us feel your loving care
give us joy and love to share
Make us of your willing tool
Let fulfillment be our rule
That our growth may be a light
saving others from the night "

I would take a piece of paper or a symbol of an spider, a skull or even carve it into a candle,
or many candles.

During this time i would take a few momemts to say a prayer or chant to Demeter and to Hecate, Spider Crone, and once again give thanks to the Three Fates.

I call Demeter
Bearer of Fair Offspring
nourisher of youth
The Wealthy One
abundant mother of grain
bringer of good harvest

I call Demeter
Sorrowing One
whose grief and loss
whose despair and rage
bring famine and ruin
in their wake

I call Demeter
Relentless One
seeker of justice
Constant Mother
who will not be
turned aside
until the lost is found again
the beloved returned
restored to wholeness

Turn to us Lady
Give us good harvest
Preserve us through the dark time
Come to us Lady
Come in to your circle
Be here with us now.

(pause)

Hail Luna, as you rise, IxChel,
Kia, Lady pale,
Queen of dreams, Cast your spell,
Of triple veil
Ar-iadne, Ar-ianhrod, Ar-achne Moerae,
Hail Hecate
Of faces three,
Clotho, Lachesis, Atropos
Shining from afar,
Spider of Destiny
In your web of Silver Stars.

(pause)
Hail, Grandmother Spider,
Crone and crow,
Wisewoman, elder,
seer,
Help us face, an
d destroy
this fear
Hail Hecate of the Crossroads,
Oh old and ominous presence glowing
Your waning numinous crescent going
to unravel the chains
to diminish our prison
to purify our poisons
to bring our spirits to the Spirit.

(Visualize this before or during the chants, whichever is preferable to you. But, remember, the words don't mean anything until you mean them. Try and build up the tension, raising your voice in strength or in notes until it comes crashing at the end.)

Now you can light the incense or herbs you have selected, and maybe hold the stones in hand. Light candles or a fire. Focus for a few moment
s on the images of the spider and the Skull.

Now concentrate on the false veil in the sky, which is already been broken...you can stare into the sky or just visualize the barrier, that which is a web over and through the earth, the gray abyss over the sky, or the millions of broken pinwheels spinning back and forth, but those patterns are changing rapidly, so be careful. What
would work best, perhaps, is simply to bi-locate or astral project to where you can witness the false veil better. The last rituals should make it much more clear to find.

If you find it will be helpful, you can take an item made from yarn or a similar material, and literally undo it. You can make your own, or take s
omething like a sweater and take a thread and unwind away.

Now visualize yourself pulling down the threads of the false veil, use your will to unravel them. Continue to unravel the thread, and watch it spiral away, creating large holes in the center. Tear it down, with all your energy and power. Put weig
hts on it, to force it to continue to unravel. It is important to breathe slowly and deeply during this, allowing the power to build and build, become a force no veil can defeat. Focus on this for at least several minutes. It is your sheer will power which defeats the false veil. By the end of this day, the veil should be gone, and who ever put it there, should not be able to find it, for the energy will have been recycled and released.

(Chant this while focusing)
"We are the flow and we are the ebb;
we unravel the threads of the web
We are the spiders who pull away the thread
to separate the living and the dead
the truth is the flow and we are the ebb

(pause, bringing the power to the center of yourself)

tear down the cobwebs
tear down the walls
the truth is upon us, hear the call!
destroy the cobwebs
destroy the walls
what is hidden is bestowed to all
we are all one, it will be done!
This world is free! So mote it be!

(pause letting the power rise)

Now we are the flow and we are the ebb
we are the weavers of the web
we are the weavers we are the web
we are the spiders we are the thread
we are the chosen back from the dead
this is our will the thread is dead!
we are the flow, and we are the ebb!

(pause, rising the power to it's peak, so scream it if you can!)

Again the Serpent Swallows the Sun,
Unravel this False Veil,
Threads Now Run!

Now relax and release the energy. If you have lit candles or a bonfire, let it burn out on it's own.

Especially this time, i would not be surprised if something tries to attack us for this. which is why the rest of the ritual i would advise you to sit quietly and concentrate on strengthening your wards and cloaks around you. An additional protection ritual might be necessary, especially, especially if you are newly awakened. If you are so inclined, any other precautionary steps can be taken, to either hide what you have done, or make sure nothing repairs itself.

~Dismisal of the Elements~

(put out each candle in turn while saying this)

"Depart oh powers of (earth/air/fire/water),my thanks and blessings. "

Take athame and cut hole in your circle. and then say:

"The circle is open but ever remains a circle. Around and through me always flows it’s magical power.

I give thanks to all the beings of the visible and the invisible that have joined with me/us on this night. By the powers of the ancient Gods, I bind all power within this circle, into this spell. We are now free. So mote it be"
